Welcome to 2013!

In honor of the Mayans being wrong, I threw together a sketch of Giorgio A. Tsoukalos of Ancient Aliens. His hair is awesome for character design and I will probably sketch up a few other ideas I have when time allows.

Well, the Zombie mobile game I've been blogging about for the past two years has been canceled. We ran into some game design issues and sadly the whole game was scrapped due to lack of time and a bigger interest in other projects. I'm very proud of the art I had created, so I'll most likely use it in a future blog post.

I'd like to say my new years resolution is to keep up with more frequent blog posts... but it's doubtful, as some ancient astronaut theorists believe.

Trick r Treat

Wow, I can't believe that my last blog post was in May. Sorry folks...

Thanks to my friends at Jetmorgan, I've had a very busy summer. They brought me on board to knock out the intro and 2 games worth of animation for fijitfriends.com. I then animated a Hot Wheels game  and now they've got me on another project which I'll have to tell you about another time... On top of that, I continue to work on my long term character design project for a client, Skid Row's web stuff, Johnny Solinger's web site, and the work for il Localino. Yeah, I enjoy the work I do.

The IOS games are on hold until further notice. Bob and I have been too busy in our other work to focus any time on it. I still have some great ideas, they'll just have to wait.

So... the drawing above is a character named "Sam" from one of my favorite Halloween movies titled Trick R Treat. If you haven't seen it, make sure you check it out. I just did that today as a warm up for the work I need to do this afternoon.

Later! \m/

I need to draw more...

Well, let me rephrase that, I need to draw more for fun. I get lots of commissioned drawing in, and now there's everyone I've ever passes on the street wanting to play Draw Something with me, but I rarely make time to draw for fun anymore. Maybe I just need more time to work on my personal games which will fill that void.

I just wrapped up another set of Cartoon Network Latin America commercials for what's called Copatoon. CNLA projects are always fun to work on because they think outside the box with direction and are not bound by the same rules as the US commercials such as how they use characters from multiple shows together.

I may have mentioned earlier that I'm slowly moving forward on my Hillybilly mobile game with my friend Troy. I believe we're going to tackle one of his games after that which may or may not include the character above. I kind of hope it does...

Rock n Roll!

The image above is a rough drawing I'm working on for Scotti Hill's new guitar picks. It's not the final art, but I thought it was fun and decided to share it. His stage personality reminds me of the Tasmanian Devil, so I wanted to take the drawing in that direction. We'll see where the final drawing ends up...

April Showers

I never get sick of saying "I'm staying busy". It's a great feeling to have paying work on the TO DO list every day. My long term project is mostly helping out a game company with character concepts and prepping them in usable flash files. Unfortunately, I'm unable to post any of the drawings at this time.

I'm still picking up other projects as the previously mentioned one has a very flexible schedule. There's also hope of expanding my operation to include another artist or two, so don't hesitate to contact me.

Aside from that, I'm putting a little time into a reface of Skidrow.com. New photos, new features, and a much better user experience. I was also told that I should have a new prototype of the Zombie iphone game we started last year. Bob's schedule has finally allowed him to put a little time into it which I'm very excited about.

This drawing has nothing to do with anything other than I felt bad posting another blog without one. Enjoy!...

Back on track

We're still settling into the new place, but my office is up and running. I spent the better part of the day working on character designs for a client game while enjoying the sun from my new skylight. I also spent some time working with Rachel today on sounds for the Zombie iphone game we have in the works. On top of that, I'm also reformatting the XP PC to be our new media machine which I'm rather excited about.

Sorry for the lack of drawing in this post...
